The coastal city of Nha Trang is the capital of Khanh Hoa province in Vietnam. The city shares its geographical boundary with Ninh Hoa Town in the North, Cam Ranh city in the south, Dienn Khanh Town in the West and South China Sea to the East. Nha Trang, with an area of about 251 square kilometres and an average population of about 500,000 is surrounded on its three sides by mountains and a large island on the fourth side. The city is surrounded by islands, archipelagos, mountains and white beaches.
The city of Nha Trang was historically known as Kauthara, under the Champa kings and some of its ancient remains can still be explored in the Po Nagar Tower. Climatically, the city enjoys a bright sunny weather all around the year with an average temperature of 23° Celsius. The rain is quite scanty but Nha Trang has variety of flora and fauna.
There are all sorts of accommodation options varying from backpacker’s inn to star rated hotels. One can go for scuba diving and snorkelling. Tourists can also enjoy the Sea Festival or the August - Nha Trang Rendezvous Festival. The city is also well known for its culinary speciality, Birds’ nest soup.
Nha Trang is well connected by various means of transport. The Nha Trang Airport is only 5 km from the city and this distance can be commuted by Taxis or Airport transports. The city has regular train services between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City whereas bus routes connect it to places like Danang, Hue, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh city and others. There are facilities for water transport, too.
