Nuwara Eliya Hotels

Nuwara Eliya provides a number of accommodation choices ranging from five star hotels to guest houses. There are a number of old colonial bungalows which have been converted into hotels. Both mid range and high end options are available in these.

Whereas budget hotels are located a little farther away from the city in the areas of St. Andrew’s Lane and Kandapola, the high end hotels are located in the city centre and close to the Botanical Gardens.

There are no significant international hotel chains in Nuwara Eliya now. Jetwing is a prominent domestic hotel chain in the town. The rest of the hotels in the area are standalone properties.

The high end hotels in Nuwara Eliya cater to both the business and leisure traveller and have a business centre, telephone and internet, spas, indoor sports and swimming pools. The budget properties of the area have basic facilities like telephone, room service, attached bathroom and an in-room tea/coffee maker.

Nuwara Eliya attracts a lot of tourists during the summer months of March to May because of its cooler climate. Most of the accommodations are booked during this time and hotel prices are 2-3 times higher. It is advisable to make advance bookings in the peak season.

Accommodations are also full during the school holidays in the country from August to October.
