| Lintou Park |
|
Lintou Park, situated in Huhsi Township, is a forested landscape comprising casuarinas and lintou trees. Providing an extremely rare sight in the Penghu Islands, this park, along with the white-sand beach, forms one of the most popular tourist destinations of the region. Lintou Park is also the only green land in Penghu Islands.
The government started building the forests in Lintou in 1946, when about 90,000 pieces of beefwoods were planted in the region. In a period of ten years, these trees became huge and green. It was in 1957 when the government established a park on this site. Lintou Park thus, was established as the only sightseeing park in Penghu.
In addition to the natural landscape, Lintou Park is also characterised by recreational amenities like a barbecue area, an aviary, and flower gardens. To the West of the park is a military cemetery. The long, clean sandy beach further, adds to the beauty of the park.
Being conveniently located, Lintou Park is easily accessible from Makung City. One can either take a bus or a private vehicle to travel to the Park from Makung City. The journey from the city to the park takes somewhere around 25 minutes.
