The Cheong Ek Museum is a portion of the historic Killing Fields. The Killing Fields were the sight for mass killing of Cambodian people during 1975 to 1979. The bodies were later found at Choeung Ek and the dead include most of the prison mates at Tuol Sleng prison.
The museum commemorates lives of some 5000 skulls along with human remains of those who died. However, most of the human remains have been destroyed as they were too horrifying for tourists to see.
