Wat Chalong is the most popular among the 50 temples and 29 monasteries in Phuket. Wat Chalong is associated with the honored monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, who were famous for their work in herbal medicine and related to injuries. There are also statues of the masters associated with the shrine standing in the sermon hall (viharn).
There is also a Grand Pagoda believed to contain the mortal remains of Buddha. A unique practice among the devotees at Wat Chalong is lighting of crackers in order to pay their respect or thank the gods for answering their prayers.
Many local Thais and Asian tourists set off fire crackers and ask for the lucky lottery numbers, and have their fortune told. There are more interesting features that entice tourists and people comimg to protect themselves from injury and illness.
What are the must see attractions of Phuket? I am planning to go there in the month of July. I want to know if it will be good. Or will there be any fest or something in Phuket any part of the year? And let me know of some luxurious stay in Phuket.
Hi,
In continuation with my posts on Bangkok and Pattaya, I will be staying at Phuket for 5 days. Which I think is ample time to cover a lot of places around Phuket. Please let me know which are these places we could visit and what are the sightseeing attractions in Phuket.
Thanks
