Surrounded by the Himalayas, Pokhara has various attractions. Attractions of the city include Lake Phewa, which is the most popular lake of the area and offers fishing and boating opportunities. The Gurkha Museum, dedicated to the Gurkha regiment of the army which is known for its bravery and courage, is another attraction.
The Natural History Museum is another museum which has various animalspecimens on display and well preserved fossils which were found during the excavations. The World Peace Stupa, located close to Phewa Lake provides views of the Annapurna Range. It can be reached by a boat ride.
There is also the Mahendra Cave located 10 km from the city centre. These are naturally formed caves and have a mineral deposit which is believed to be the Shiva Lingam. A temple has been built around the mineral deposit and it is worshipped by pilgrims.
Another attraction of the city is the Pokhara Regional Museum. The museum is dedicated to the culture and tradition of Pokhara city only and has various artefacts related to the history of the place on display.
Pokhara is also known for rafting and trekking. River Seti offers rafting opportunities while the Annapurna Range that surrounds the city, has many trekking trails. Guided trekking tours are available in the area.
