Travelling within Pokhara

Bus services are available within the city. However, buses travel to major sightseeing attractions of the city only. Large buses as well as mini buses are available here. Buses are operated by private operators and run from 5:30 am till afternoon. The approximate fare for the buses starts at NPR 18 and increases with distance.

Taxis can be found near the bus stands or the tourist attractions. They can also be arranged on call. Taxis in the area are available from 5:30 am to 9:00 pm. The approximate fare for taxis is NPR 160 for a distance of 7-8 km. Taxis in Pokhara travel to all the sightseeing attractions of the place.

Most of the taxis have metres but a fare may need to be negotiated, since drivers sometimes refuse to go by metres.  

There are no Metro / Train services in Pokhara or Nepal.

Renting a bicycle is another option for travelling within Pokhara. Motorcycles are also available on rent. The approximate cost of renting a bicycle is NPR 250 per day.

Helicopter services are also getting popular in the city. There are many private operators and airlines offering helicopter services between sightseeing attractions of the city.

Boats are also available for travelling within the lake. The approximate cost for boat shuttle services is NPR 400 for a trip from Lakeside to Phewa Resort and NPR 600 for a trip from Lakeside to Khaepudi.
