Surrounded by snow capped peaks of the Himalayas, Pokhara has many sightseeing options. One of the attractions in the city is the Phewa Lake. The lake is a popular picnic spot in the area and boating and fishing are the major activities in the lake.
Located above the lake, on a small hill is the World Peace Stupa, which provides views of the Annapurna Range.. The city of Pokhara has 8 lakes. Apart from Phewa Lake, the other two important lakes of the city are the Begnas Lake and the Rupa Lake. These lakes again are picnic spots with fishing and boating opportunities. The Seti River is another attraction. It is believed that the entire city of Pokhara floats on the River Seti.
The Mahendra Caves are naturally formed caves which lie 10 km from the city centre. There is a mineral deposit inside the cave which is worshipped as a Shiva Lingam.
There is also the Davis Fall, located 2 km from the centre of Pokhara. Other sightseeing options here include the Bhimsen Temple and the Bindhya Basini Temple. The Bhimsen Temple is more than 200 years old and is dedicated to the god of commerce and trade.
Museums like the Gurkha Museum and the International Mountain Museum also attract tourists.
