Loreta

Loreta is a former church of the Lobkowitz family. At the church, tourists can find a cloister, the church of the Lord’s Birth and a Holy Hut. Inside the church also lies a clock tower with a world famous chime that has been situated in Prague Hradcany for more than 300 years. A large pilgrimage destination in Hradcany, a district of Prague, it was constructed by the Italian architect Giovanno Orsi.

Architects Christoph Dientzenhofer and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer designed the Face wall in baroque style in the beginning of the 18th century. Heard since August 15, 1695, the chapel is popular for its peal.

Watchmaker Peter Neumann constructed this chapel from 30 smaller and larger bells during 1694. Liturgical tools, mainly monstrances, are also located within the church. In the church is also located a precious musical instrument, known as the carillon. On the first floor of the cloister, exhibitions are organised.

The Holy Hut was blessed on March 25, 1631. In the church, tourists can also view the Loreta jewels that include a unique collection of precious gifts of the Holy Virgin Loreta. Capuchin monks manage the church. Popular as a baroque pilgrimage site, it was constructed on 3 June 1626, at the instigation of Baroness Benigna Katharina von Lobkowitz.
