Bus services are available from Medan to Banda Aceh. After reaching Medan, one needs to go to the Pinang Baris Intercity Bus Terminal or to the Jalan Gajah Mada to avail the Aceh buses. Banda Aceh is connected to Pulau Weh by ferries.
Some of the buses that operate between Medan and Banda Aceh are Pelangi, Anugrah, PMTOH and Kurnia. Most of these buses provide hourly services. Of all the options, it is advisable to opt for the night bus that departs from Medan at 9:00 pm.
