Queenstown Shopping

There are plenty of high end boutiques and shops in the area. One can also shop from the street side stalls that line the area. Most of the shopping places are located in the downtown area of the city.

The city of Queenstown is known for wool and sheepskin clothing. It is also known for Pounamu or the greenstone. Being the adventure capital, one can find many shops selling snow gear and other snow sport accessories. The area of Glenorchy is known for home textiles and possum skin clothing.

All the goods sold here have 12.5 % Goods and Services Tax. However, there are some shops which waive off the tax for tourists. To avail such discount, one must show the shopkeeper a valid return ticket upon purchase.

The shops in Queenstown are open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, although some high end stores remain open till 10:00 pm too.
