Travelling to Queenstown

To obtain a Visa to New Zealand, one has to have a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date. One has to detail reasons for travelling to New Zealand along with confirmed return tickets and the evidence of enough monetary resources.

Valid monetary evidences include cash, traveller's cheque, bank drafts or credit cards with sufficient credit available. One needs to show a proof of USD 733 per person per month or USD 293 per person per month if accommodation has already been paid for.

The maximum stay under a visitor’s visa is nine months. Visitors who do not require a visa are initially granted a three month visitor visa, and it is 6 months for the UK nationals.

Visitors of the following countries do not need a visa to visit New Zealand if they are staying there for three months or less and if they are coming to the country for medical reasons: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia and Finland.

All Indian passport holders require a Visa to visit New Zealand. There is no visa on arrival facility for Indians here.

British passport holders can visit for up to six months without a Visitor’s Visa. Australian citizens and people who hold a current Australian permanent residence visa or a current Australian resident return visa do not need a New Zealand Visitor Visa to enter the country.

Tourists from the following countries are issued visas free of charge for a period of 90 days on arrival in New Zealand:

Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Korea (South), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, San Marino, Slovak Republic, Singapore, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, USA and Vatican City.

For processing a visa request, it takes about a week from the date of filing the visa application.

To be able to apply for visa to New Zealand, one should hold a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the date of departure. One needs a valid reason for visiting New Zealand before applying for a visa. One also needs evidence of sufficient monetary resources to show that one is able to sustain his/her visit to New Zealand.

Valid monetary evidences include cash, traveller’s cheque, bank drafts or credit cards with sufficient credit available. One needs to show proof of at least Rs 33000 per person per month or Rs 13200 per person per month if accommodation has already been paid for.
