Travelling to Queenstown

Queenstown has its own international airport called as the Queenstown International Airport. There are direct flights available from Australia to Queensland.

Dunedin and Christchurch are the closest cities to the place. One can reach any of these cities and then travel by bus to Queenstown. One can also catch a flight from any of the major cities of New Zealand to reach Queenstown.

If one gets to Christchurch, one can either take a bus or drive down to Queenstown. Christchurch is approximately 6 hours away from Queenstown by road.

The Queenstown International Airport is located 10 km from the city centre. There are buses as well as taxis available from the airport to the city centre. Metlink Buses ply to the city centre every 10 minutes.

The approximate fare for taxis from the airport to the city centre is approximately $20. Cars are also available on rent from outside the airport. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the city centre from the airport.

The best way of reaching the city is by air. If one is coming from India, one can take the flight from New Delhi to Singapore and then catch the connecting flight to Auckland. There are no direct flights available from India to New Zealand. From Auckland, one can take the connecting flight to Queenstown.

Direct flights are available from Sydney to Queenstown. Air New Zealand and Qantas Airways operate regular flights between the two cities. One can also reach Queenstown by road. One can take a direct bus to the city from Auckland.

The closest city to Queenstown is Christchurch. It takes about 6 hours to reach Queenstown from Christchurch by road. One can also take a taxi or drive on one’s own as the roads are good. However, it is a long journey.
