At Early Christian Catacombs, one can observe 40 cemeteries of Romans. The elite families of Rome used to construct a cubicula for the dead and decorate the walls with frescoes. Multiple galleries are around 17 to 19 metres in dimension and lay one over the other.
One can look out for the catacombs of San Callisto, San Sebastiano, Domitilla and Commodilla at this sight. The early bodies that were sealed and buried had the sign of fish or chi-rho on them.
These catacombs have a history of dating back to almost the second century. Visitors can take a guided tour. The Catacomb of Commodilla is named after the owner of the land. It also has a church of Pope Siricius that is built underground.
