Sharjah, the third largest Emirate in United Arab Emirates, is the only emirate that has water on both sides, apart from the vast desert area. With the presence of water and desert in Sharjah, there are numerous activities one can enjoy like sand driving, dune bashing and quad biking. On the other hand, the city with its water coastline offers several water activities such as scuba diving, jet-skiing and wind surfing.
Hamriyah Lagoon and Al Khan Lagoon are the two popular places tourists can enjoy different water-sports like windsurfing, jet-skiing and water-skiing. Khor Fakkan is the only beach in Sharjah that is centrally located and managed by the Oceanic Hotel. Tourists have to pay a certain amount for entering this beach.
Moreover, the Sharjah Water Festival is organised in and around Khaled Lagoon every year in the month of December. In addition to it, F1 Powerboat Race is another event that attracts hundreds of tourists each year. Besides these, the nightlife of Sharjah is another reason behind the huge influx of tourists year-round. One gets to experience a different nightlife, as drinking is officially banned in Sharjah. |
