Chiesa della Martorana is an old cathedral located in Palermo and is better known as "La Martorana". The church has a baroque front and an ancient styled entrance with arch openings & columns.
Though the mosaics are 850 years old, yet the shine and appearance is still the same. On a golden background, spring green, ivory and azure blue streaks can be seen. The mosaic of the Christ crowning King Roger II can be seen near the entrance.
Another prominent mosaic that one can see is George kneeling and presenting La Martorana before the Virgin. While having a look at the dome, one can see the mosaic of Christ, seated on the throne with angels around.
For entering the Chiesa di San Cataldo, the visitor can ask for the key from the guard.
