Nature lovers can visit the Tanjong Chek Jawa bay which is known for being a habitat to rare species such as Straw -headed Bulbul and the Collared Kingfisher. A 100-hectare landmass, it has been developed as a wetland sanctuary.

The sanctuary is a combination of a large sand-strewn beach, lagoons abounding in many kinds of sea-grass, mounds of rubble formed by contiguous corals, vast swathes of mangroves and a long stretch of a coastal forest.

The complex nature of the bay was revealed by a low tide that exposed the composition of the shoreline. It was spruced up to make it tourist friendly by constructing a kilometre-long boardwalk, a 65-feet long observation tower and a spectator area with a jetty dedicated for viewing.
