A wide range of accommodation options are available in Sri Lanka, which includes eco-villages, heritage homes, budget hotels, hostels, high-end hotels, boutique hotels, beach resorts, meditation centres and villas.

Eco-villages are present in close proximity of the Dodanduwa lagoon. Ancestral homes of Sri Lankan royals and well-to-do families have been turned into heritage homes.

In Sri Lanka, beach resorts are located at Bentota, Negombo and Unawatuna. Family guest-houses and villas are situated on the cliff overlooking Mirissa beach. These options are ideal for large groups and families.

In Bentota, one can also find many beach resorts, villas and private boutique hotels. The villas in Unawatuna are located near the secluded and quiet bays. Private villas can be rented near Galle. Further, there are game arcades, discotheques, private swimming pools, bars, golf courses and tennis courts present within the premises of the resorts.

December through March attracts maximum number of tourists to the island. Christmas to New Year also witnesses a huge influx of foreign visitors in Sri Lanka. During these months, the prices of all the accommodation options in the country soar.

July/August is the time for Esala Perahera, the ten-day festival honouring the sacred tooth relic of Buddha. This is also the time of the Kataragama festival in the south. During this period, the rates of the accommodation options increase significantly. Moreover, it is difficult to arrange accommodation at short notice.
