Taipei Bus Station is situated next to the Taipei Station. This multi-use complex operates both City Buses and Intercity Buses. It is administered by Taipei Joint Bus Service Management Center, Taipei City Traffic Bureau and New Taipei City Traffic Bureau.
The City Buses run within Taipei City and New Taipei City, both of which are located in the Taipei Basin. Intercity buses run from Taipei to cities in the west of Taiwan and Yilan. These also provide service to the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
15 individual bus transit agencies are operated by the Taipei Bus System. These transit agencies possess the same fare structure, ticketing process and route numbering. These include Metropolitan Transit Company, Shin-Shin Bus, CitiAir Bus, Da-Nan Bus, Kuang-Hua Bus, Chung-Shing Bus and Chih-Nan Bus.
Other agencies comprise of Taipei Bus, San-Chung Bus, Capital Bus, Hsintien Bus, Hsin-Ho Bus, Tamshui Bus, Southeast Bus and Keelung Bus.
The stops and waiting areas are shared between individual bus operators. During peak hours, the buses run at 15 to 20 minutes interval. However, the interval is 20 to 30 minutes at other times.
