The Taiwanese capital city, Taipei offers several shopping options for tourists like night markets, shopping districts and malls. For budget shopping, Taipei has night markets that open at 4 pm and operate till midnight.

Shilin Night Market is one of the most famous amongst travellers and locals. From grocery items to clothes, one can bargain for anything here and purchase items at budgeted rates.

Other night markets that are equally popular are Raohe Street Night Market, Gongguan Night Market, Shida Night Market and Tong Hua Street Night Market. One can find other night markets in Wanhua, Wenshan and Zhongzheng districts.

Tourists looking for branded items can head to Zhongxiao East Road, which is dotted with numerous shopping malls. This street can be accessed from Zhongxiao Fuxing and Zhongxiao Dunhua Station.

For high-end shopping, one can also go to Daan and Xinyi districts, where several malls are located. Some of the famous shopping malls are Core Pacific City, Taipei 101, Asiaworld Shopping Centre, Miramar Entertainment Park and Breeze Centre, to name a few.

Taipei also has a high concentration of underground shopping malls like East Metro Mall, Taipei Underground Market, Longshan Temple Underground Shopping Bazaar, Front Metro Mall and Ximen Underground Mall, to name a few.

For buying electronics, tourists can visit Guang Hua Digital Plaza and NOVA Electronics Mall. Tourists can splurge at the Asia’s largest jade market that is situated to the south of Zhongxiao East Road.  

For all kind of photography and camera related shopping, travellers can head to Hankou Street. One can shop for Chinese handicrafts at the Jianguo Artist Market.

Other areas like Wufenpu, Yuanling Street and Chongqing South Road are famous for buying clothes, handmade shoes and books, respectively. Streets near Longshan Temple have numerous shops selling herbs, pets and Buddhist items.

At the time of the Chinese New Year, one can shop for Chinese medicine, temple icons and wooden handicrafts at Dihua Street Market.
