Travelling to Taman Negara is mostly done by pre-arranged package tours from Kuala Lumpur. Visitors can also undertake the journey themselves. They need to avail a train or bus from Kuala Lumpur to Jerantut from where a direct public bus service is available.
Tourists can also take a taxi after reaching Jerantut to the jetty that is located at Kuala Tembling. From the jetty at Kuala Tembling, a river boat leaves for Kuala Tahan. This service is operated by the boat twice daily, at 9:00 am and at 2:00 pm. The journey covers a distance of 60 kilometres and takes around 2 to 3 hours.
Visitors can also drive to Kuala Tahan. People travelling from Kuala Lumpur need to avail the East Coast Expressway, then exit the expressway at Temerloh and continue to Jerantut. At a T-junction a right turn has to be taken to reach Kuala Tahan which is located at a distance of 75 kilometres from there. The whole journey takes about three and half hours.
Tourists can also fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan and then take a taxi or bus to Jerantut to reach the park.
Tourists can also take direct night trains from Singapore to Tembling Halt station and take ferries from Tembeling Halt Jetty, which is at a walking distance from the station. These ferries go to Kuala Tahan - the headquarters of Taman Negara Park. Ferries depart from Tembeling Halt at 9:00 am and 1.30 pm daily.
