Accommodation in Tongariro National Park can be found in the nearby towns of the region which include Whakapapa Village, Turangi, National Park, Ohakune and Raetihi. There are campsites as well as huts available in the region managed by the DOC.

Most of the accommodation is in the form of lodges here. Camping and staying in campervans is another accommodation option in Tongariro National Park. Campervans act as accommodation as well as a mode of transport for travelling within the region.

A popular campsite in the region is the Mangahuia campsite in the Ruapehu region. There is also the service motor camp of Whakapapa where one can stay while visiting Tongariro National Park.

There is no major international or local hotel chain available in the Tongariro National Park. However, there are many individual properties, home stays as well as campsites and campervans where one can stay.

The place does not receive many business travellers and hence the accommodations in the area lack business facilities. The accommodations here have basic facilities like tea/coffee maker in the room, internet and telephone services. Most of them do not have any leisure facility.

The summer months of December to May are the peak season of the area as it offers many walking and trekking as well as tramping opportunities in the area. It is advisable to book the hotels in advance if visiting during the peak season.
