There is no dearth of eating joints in UAE, which houses several restaurants and cafés along with numerous bars. The cuisines in the country reflect its Arabic heritage and are served with different types of bread along with fresh salads and vegetables.
The traditional food of the Emirates includes fish, meat and rice, apart from seafood which is integral to Emirati diet for centuries. Arabic Mezze is one the most famous dishes of the country which is usually eaten with hands.
Tourists can enjoy a variety of dishes, including chicken shawarma, humus, kibbe, warak enab and falafel. Kussa mahshi, baba ganush, tabbouleh, ghuzi and pita bread are other delicacies. Popular desserts served in the country include pastries filled with honey and nuts, along with the famous Umm Ali, which is a bread pudding with nuts and raisins.
Stuffed camel and al harees form the main course of the weddings of Sheikhs in UAE. The roasted camel has found its place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest item on a menu.
A wide assortment of international cuisines, such as Lebanese, Iranian and Persian, are also served at the eateries. Lebanese delicacies in UAE are served with Arabic bread, fresh salads and pickles, while Iranian dishes are served with cabbage, potato, tomato and mint yogurt sauce. Most of the restaurants located in Dubai also serve Indian and European cuisines.
