In terms of restaurants, Wadi Rum does not offer many options to tourists. The most popular restaurant in the desert valley is the Rest House, where lunch and supper are served. One can also have beer, alcohol and wine here.
Other options include the restaurant at the Visitors' Centre, run by Captains from Aqaba and Bait Ali. There is not much demand for restaurants as most tours include meals. Many camps provide a traditional meal of chicken or lamb cooked in the desert.
Other popular restaurants include Rum Gate Restaurant that is located near the Visitors Centre and the Redwan Paradise, which is along the main road of Rum village. Tourists can have tea, hummus and falafel in these restaurants. Non-alcoholic beer and chicken sandwiches are also available.
One can also find a small tent-cum-restaurant, which serves simple Jordanian food of bread and yoghurt. Another speciality is the Bedouin tea that is hot, sweet and usually flavoured with mint or sage. |
