The Banpo site was discovered in 1954. This place gives an insight to the distinctive Neolothic matriarchal community that belonged to the Yangshao culture
A Museum has been developed at this place, which covers an area of almost one acre and has two exhibition halls and a site hall. Production tools such as axes, chisels, stone and pottery knives are put on display.
The artworks exhibited in this museum demonstrate the social life, culture art and innovation practices of that period. Archaeological findings are also present in the museum, which reflect the primitive production levels and social practices.
