In order to travel to Switzerland, most of the visitors need to have visa before they reach the destination. Being an associated member of Schengen agreement, the immigration laws of this European state complies with the Schengen regulations. The rules are applicable for entry and stay up to three months.
Foreign nationals require a valid and accepted travel document to enter Switzerland. Moreover, to cover the cost of living during the transit or the stay in Switzerland, tourists must have sufficient funds, procured through legal means. The stay of the visitors must not exceed a total of three months, within a period of six months.
Certain individuals do not require visa, such as tourists with valid permanent residence certificates of EU or EFTA country. Additionally, visa is not mandatory for citizens of New Zealand, Monaco, San Marino, Australia, Andorra, South Africa, Canada, USA and few other nations.
Residents of European Community or EU nationals do not require visa for tourism purposes, business trips or stay up to three months. However, they should have a national passport, along with a European ID card. They must keep in mind that during non-professional stay, it is forbidden to exercise any kind of professional activity.
Citizens of India need to have visa for visiting Zurich, Switzerland. Residents of North and East Indian states, such as Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Bihar, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh can submit their forms at the Switzerland Visa Application Centre or the Swiss Embassy in Delhi.
Additionally, residents of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh can submit the forms at the same place. Furthermore, the residents of Bhutan, Haryana, Jharkhand, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura and Uttaranchal can also submit the visa form at Delhi.
Besides, residents of Andaman and Nicobar, Chhattisgarh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep and Pondicherry must submit their visa application at Mumbai. Switzerland Visa Application Centre or to the Swiss Consulate in Mumbai accepts applications of residents of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
On the basis of their requirements, travellers can opt for different visas, such as tourism visa, airport transit visa, business visa, visitor visa, work visa and student visa. Adult visitors need to pay a visa fee of 3,578.18 INR. The fee for children between 6 to 12 years of age is 2,087.27 INR. Children below 6 years of age are exempted from visa application fee.
There are certain requirements for getting the visa, such as the validity of the requisite travel document should extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from Zurich. For tourists looking for several visits, the validity should extend three months after the last intended date of departure. The document needs to be issued within the previous 10 years. Furthermore, the document must contain at least two blank pages and should not be older than 10 years.

Has anyone been to Zurich? I am planning on my honeymoon in Zurich. How will it be? Is July a good time to visit Switzerland? And if anyone been there before please tell me about the romantic hotel there. What are the place we can go to in Zurich and what are the activities we can do in Zurich? How much will it cost in very good hotel there?
When is the best time to see Switzerland? If i visit there in December will the place be worth watching? Or should i reschedule my trip? Has anyone been there? Please let me know of the hotels you stayed in when u had been there.
I am planning a Zurich vacation in the month of July 11'. We are visiting several other cities too. But on this trip, we are planning to cover only Austria and Switzerland. We have already decided to visit Zurich, Interlaken and Luccerne. And in Austria we are planning to visit Vienna and Salzburg. Can anybody tell me if this is a good plan or are there some more places we could cover during our 12 day stay here.
