Zurich has a temperate climate that is affected by its inland location and proximity to Lake Zurich. Additionally, its nearness to the northern hills like the Kaferberg and the Gubrist also makes its weather quite temperate. Atlantic breezes that are characterized by humidity also affect the city's temperature.
Contrary to what many people may believe, the weather experienced in Zurich is mild given its geographical position. It is only on rare instances that the city goes through seasonal weather extremes.
January is considered to be an ideal time to visit by those tourists who enjoy winter, as it is the coldest month of the year. In January, the temperature stays somewhere around 2° C, with only slight changes at night. With the arrival of March, the weather begins to change with temperature reaching 8° C.
The months of February and March comprise spring season. April brings in snow and rain, which continue well into the month of May. The period between Mid-August and end of September is the time when it rains in Zurich, and it is only in October that sunny days and pleasant temperature can be experienced. Fogs and rains can be seen during November and December, with snow expected in December.
Zurich weather, thus makes the month of January ideal for winter enthusiasts and October for hikers and trekkers.

Has anyone been to Zurich? I am planning on my honeymoon in Zurich. How will it be? Is July a good time to visit Switzerland? And if anyone been there before please tell me about the romantic hotel there. What are the place we can go to in Zurich and what are the activities we can do in Zurich? How much will it cost in very good hotel there?

Hi,
I am planning a Zurich vacation in the month of July 11'. We are visiting several other cities too. But on this trip, we are planning to cover only Austria and Switzerland. We have already decided to visit Zurich, Interlaken and Luccerne. And in Austria we are planning to visit Vienna and Salzburg. Can anybody tell me if this is a good plan or are there some more places we could cover during our 12 day stay here.
