What are the attractions we should not miss in at Kuala Lumpur? Please suggest me some good food joints too. Also enlighten me about the shopping centers? what should be the budget apprx..?
Kuala Lumpur by itself is just a commercial center like Singapore. There are many malls but most of them are very expensive. The best bargains can be had at Mydin Malls which are located at several places in KL. As regards food, there are Indian food joints in most parts of KL. You can inquire at your hotel. Tourist attractions are KL Tower, Petronas Tower and city tour.
However, if you go go Kuala Lumpur, you must stay for at least one night at Genting Highlands which is a two-hour drive. As regards budget, hotels are approx. Rs.2500 to Rs.5000/- per night per room including breakfast. You can get good bargains from your agent or from on-line sites if you book in advance.
A couple weeks back we stayed at the just built Sentral Hotel at Sentral Station, the main railway stn in town and really handy to links to everywhere, for 138.00 MYR = 2,128.16 INR for a standard room ,well below the regular rate
You can ask for a good rate, depends if the hotel is lightly booked or not. Its a brand new hotel, with and excellent buffet brekky included. Clean, convenient, and secure. Right outside are heaps of North Indian and Paki cafes. The bus from the LCCT air terminal drops you at Sentral,so its only a 5 minute walk to the hotel.
Site Seeing in Malaysia: We had visited KL & Genting Highlands. Not to miss both. At Genting the Cable ride is the most exciting experience. The place is @ 2000 meters above Sea level. Genting requires atleast 2-3 days to really enjoy The Indoor Theme Park, The Outdoor Theme park & the Casino
At KL - Go to Petronas Towers on your own. Suggested to go in the afternoon & stay thru the night to really enjoy the Beauty both in lights & during day. On every Monday the Towers are closed for Maintenance. You wont be able to go on the Aero bridge. The half day city tour is inadequate to enjoy the places though it will cover most of the places. The KL Tower is not part of city tour so you need to visit separately.
Stay in KL: We stayed @ Hotel Istana near Twin Towers. Lot of 5 star hotels near by. Istana was very good. The food also is Good.
Shopping in KL:
Places like Little India, Little China are famous for shopping. Avoid Electronics as mostly fake branded products are sold. Little India is like India with Indian community living there. You can shop for clothes etc. You can bargain.
You can find good Indian Food Joints here too.
At Little China the Traders are Rude. Avoid shopping there. It is equivalent to Chor Bazars in India. No guarantee. Here Rule while shopping: If you bargain & agree on a price, BETTER buy it from that shop or Trader. If you do not buy, they take offence & the message spreads in the market & you will not be allowed to shop.
Note: Singapore is better for Shopping though may be little costlier than Malaysia
Regarding food joints: Petronas have good Food joints. One of the Indian Joints serving Punjabi food is very good.
