We travelled in June 2011, 2 adutls & 1 child aged 9 years...

Singapore is fun for all family members....

You may go for:

Night Safari
Sentosa Island
Universal Studios ( buy tickets online along with an express pass to avoid long ques both at the ticket counter and for the attractions as well)

for shopping you may go to Mustafa (all Indians do) & Bugis street, there are many more options depending on how much you want to spend

Hotel: Look for a place near Little India (lots of food options if travelling with kids, I recommend Park Royal, Kitchner Road)

Do also visit the Marina Bay Sands, especially the pool on the 57th floor (they have an entry fee for that), but if you plan to stay there you have free access to the terrace...

Let me know if you need any more info...

Dear Paromita
Nice to hear you are visiting Singapore in the month of October. Weather is same through out the year with occational rain in the day. It depends who all are visiting this small island. If there are children, then stay at the Santosa island. If you are shopholic then stay on or near the Orchid road. I stayed in Mendarin Orchid on Orchid road. Its very convenient for the shopping. Every place in Singapore is great. Take suggestions from the reception, they will be more then happy to arrange every thing.
Happy holiday

Apart from the main tourist attractions of Sentosa Island, Jurong Bird Park and the Zoo, you must go to Orchard Street, China Town for shopping...Also the restaurants in the clarke quay area are very good for dining by the riverside.

Have a great trip!

take hotel in city near to mustafa, if marine bay then it is ok . take whole day for santosa,
& full day for universal studio. days other then friday ,saturday sunday u do not have to buy express tickets for universal studio.when u entered in universal studio, donot take eatables in universal studio.when u enterd in u studio go right .then takes rides u will save time.buy laptops from simling square , walking distance from mutafa, for tv u may see at naranjan singh for best price , but compare from mustfa & take bills for vat refund on airport.clothing is not gud in mustafa.
shops in little india sarngoon road, china town u can do bargain , for branded clothing please check at singapore sight for brand warehouse sale.but in my view shopping is expensive.if possible plan eur travel with star cruise for 2-3 days it will worthful & memorable & amazing.so plan ur travel accordingly.if u book 60 days advance stra cruise u will get very gud price but buy only CA CABIN TICKETS WITH WINDOW. SINGAPORE WITHOUT STAR CRUISE VIRGO IS INCOMPLETE.IT IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. DONOT SPIT ON ROAD ,FINE-S$500. CROSS ROADS ONLY ON ZEBRA CROSSING ,DONOT LITER ANY THING DONOT IN COACH.POLICE IS IN CIVIL DRESS THERE AND U MUST PAY YOUR FINE AT AIR PORT BEFORE LEAVING SINGAPORE .STAND IN Q ALWAYS FOR BUS OR TAXI.TRAVEL ONY IN BLUE & WHITE TAXI.NEVER TRAVEL IN BLACK TAXI . IT VERY VERY EXPENSIVE.
