Overall it was a nice experience.Me and my wife stayed at the hotel for two nights. We had come to know about this hotel from the Bengali Movie "Kailashe Kelenkari".We are avid Feluda fans and could not avoid living in the same hotel where Feluda stayed and solved a mystery(of course in the story).I know anyone who has not read Feluda will not understand what I am talking about but dont worry.Staying at this hotel is advantageous for other reasons as well Some positives about the hotel: 1.Cottages have a very good view of the cave so does the non ac rooms. 2.The over all ambience is very calm and quiet. 3.Enough place for children to play around. 4.The cottages have a small balcony with a table and chair to allow you to have a cup of tea or beer and view the ellora cave in the evening light. 5. The common lawn area is a nice patch of green with a swing and and some chairs and tables with the ellora caves in front. Negatives: 1.The food at the restaurant is very costly but is usually good . 2.No room service is encouraged though it is available if you want to call the reception using your mobile(no phone in the room) 3. The room is neat but very basic(in both the cottage and non ac\ac rooms) and you might feel that it is overpriced but the ambience and the location compensates for it 4. No TV in the NON AC rooms. For the Satyajit ray fans: As per the hotek authorities ,the person himself stayed in cottage#3 in 1974 while writting the story "Kailash Kelenkari" The hotek has the follwoing type of rooms details of which you will find on their website: 1.AC Cave facing cottages 2.AC Non Cave Facing Cottages 3.NON AC rooms with TV 5.Non AC rooms without TV We stayed at the cheapest one i.e. NoN AC room without TV(approx Rs 1700 = Rs 1500 + tax). Its a clean room, spacious but not luxurious by any means. The cottages which cave facing have almost the same view as the No AC room without TV.My suggestion is that if you do not want a TV and AC then the NON AC room room is good enough . Over all experience was nice.Swosti happens to be the best available hotel and probably the costliest.food ,service etc is quite good.If you are going in the summer hot water in the tap can be a problem. Mr Navin Patnaik the CM of the state seems to be regularly visiting the place as gopalpur is his constituency.Incedentally he had ut up at swosti when we were staying there so that indicates that it is the best available in gopalpur. None of the rooms though have a full view of the sea.Only partially sea facing rooms are available.Room with ac were priced around 2500 after bargaining.this also included complimentary breakfast and pick up from brahmapur station.
