Exciting, lovely, Outstanding We visited Tilayia Dam on last 16-02-09. We stayed at Barhi..... Exciting, lovely, Outstanding We visited Tilayia Dam on last 16-02-09. We stayed at Barhi which is 26 KM from the dam. By our own we, the 15 boys from Bishnupur, West Bengal, started for Tilayia at 2pm and reached there by 40 minutes. It is not only a dam but also 3 Hydrol projects are here, which product 350 Megawatt power everyday. The most attractive thing is the deep blue water of the dam. You are compeled to stare at it with wonder. It can easily be resembled with the deep blue water of the beaches of Western countries. We hired a machine-boat for Rs. 300 and roamed along the water for about 2 hours. The boatsman was really a gentleman. He took us to the islands in the dam. We got down from the boat and enjoyed the beauty of them. One of them was of ivory-white colour, one deep black in which a big tree stood to welcome us. We took tiffin stufs with us and had it sitting beside the ripling water of the island. Later we got down and saw the Hydrol-projects though we were not allowed to enter in the area. The colered-stone-design beside the path towards the rest house is an another attractive thing of Tilayia. More » « Hide

Lonely, apart from the desciption from books or internet Hazaribag is just a lonely 'planet'..... Lonely, apart from the desciption from books or internet Hazaribag is just a lonely 'planet' now, detached from the world, I think. We went there on last 16-02-09 with a lot of expecttation to enjoy. But alas! we all, the 15 members of the team became hopeless. There is no facility available now ion Hazaribag for tourists. We found no Official posted there. But it is definately should be noted that once it was a glamourous spot for the tourists. There was electric, banglow, rest house, restaurent, watch tower, animals. But it is now like a 'debris' of Old Hazaribag. A few tourists go there. We saw only 5 peacocks. Yet we wanted to stay there for 1 night. But lacked the courage as we were told that we have to go to Hazaribag town, 22 X 2 = 44 KM updown journey by our own car to bring all the foods, drinks, etc. as nothing is available there or they can arrange. Yet we agreed. But when we were told that we will get only two 14'/10' rooms to spend the night, two oil lamps will accompany us for the night, two mugs water will be available for 25 people including two + two single beds. Thehe is no bathroom, we have to do our 'natural work' in the dense forest. And we have to pay Rs. 1200 x 2 = Rs.2400 ! We were amazed. But we had another thing waiting for us i.e. no Cash Memo will be paid to us. Anyway, we immediately decided to return. But the forest was till amazing as if it was telling us hopelessly not to return but to enjoy her with heart's content. Really we returned to Hazaribag town with a bitter memory. More » « Hide
