It Was Diwali peak season & after staying at Palolem for 4 nights we came to Panjim for some business work. We must have checked out at least 5 - 6 hotels & all of them were full. Finally we landed up at Park Plaza. The hotel is centrally located opposite Azad maidan. We took a Non AC room which was on the top floor of the hotel building. Actually the room had an AC but it was not working & that is the reason we managed to get a room during peak diwali season when all other hotels were running to packed capacity. The check in was a little slow as now a days all big hotels ask for an I.D. card & insist on a photo copy of the same. Since I was not carrying a photo copy of my driving license I asked the reception to keep the original with them for photo copying & will collect the same later when I come down. The room was of medium size with enough furniture & a small TV with cable connection. The room also had a small balcony which was overlooking Azad maidan. The washroom was clean. Room service was quick & hotel staff was co-operative. All in all a decent, mid budget option to stay in Panjim. More » « Hide

This is a brand new property (launched around December 2010) in Corbett which is already overcrowded with many hotels & resorts. We were booked at this resort by a forest guide with whom we had booked our entire Corbett tour including safaris & stays at the Forest rest houses (FRH) inside the park. We stayed at this place just for one night (during the change over from one FRH to the other) but that duration was more than enough to give the property and more importantly its staff a thumbs up sign from our side. Firstly the check in was instant & we were shown our well furnished room on the first floor. All the rooms in the resort are Air conditioned. The room had a big bed with lots of pillows, a sit out place overlooking the green landscape of the property & a separate small area where you can keep the luggage & clothes which was just outside the spanking clean bathroom. A waiter came to our room to take down the food order & we explained him that we wanted pure Jain food. When we went to the restaurant after some time we were very much surprised by the exceptional service given by the restaurant staff & we felt like celebrity as we were the only one in the restaurant. Later we learnt that this being a new property we were their only guest for the night. The meal served was excellent with soup, salad, vegetables, dal, chappati, rice & we finished off with a desert dish. The Paneer Butter Masala vegetable was the best we had in our entire 10 days trip of Corbett & Rishikesh. One wing & swimming pool of the resort was still under construction but there was not a hint of the work going on & no noise at all. The manager was very helpful & asked us about our wild life sightings in Corbett & wished us good luck for better sightings. Next morning we had to leave early & as per our request they had kept our breakfast of sandwiches, juice & fruits already packed. Although our stay at the resort was very short but we left the place with some pleasant memories of the resort especially the service. There is disappointment for the Cable T.V. lovers but we were not complaining. We would love to go back to the resort for a longer stay. More » « Hide

Manoribel, so near to Mumbai (actually it’s in Mumbai) yet once you reach here you feel you are hundreds of miles away from the city. Reaching here is an experience in itself. From Marve beach (Near Malad) it’s a short ferry ride to Manori jetty from where you can take a horse cart or an autorikshaw to reach the resort. Say within 20 to 30 mins. You are transported to a place which is very different from the main city. During weekends the resort get full quite often so advance booking is a must. The resort area is quite big & has direct access to Manori beach. The resort has A/C & Non A/C Cottages (Most of them are sea facing) A/C & Non A/c rooms (most of them are garden facing) & they have recently added a tree house as well. We opted for an A/C room, as A/C was must during October & the sea Facing cottages were quite costly. The room was quite big with a big bathroom. Although the interiors of the room are quite old but they are well maintained. Apart from going to the beach for long walks & of course a dip in the sea there are plenty of other activities like Badminton (open air), table tennis, carom. Also there are hammocks where you can take afternoon nap as they are shaded by trees. There are no televisions in the rooms; however they have a common area where you can catch on the news. Almost all the staff at the resort is from Manori village & they are very helpful & very much dedicated to their work. Food is good (a little costly I would say) but with limited options for us Jains but plenty of options in Non veg. Manori beach is crowded especially on Sundays, so if you want to enjoy the beach then go there during weekdays, however if you want to keep it to the resort any day is fine. Going on a weekday has an added benefit as the tariffs are around 20 to 25 % cheaper as compared to weekends. So, if you are looking for a quick break to recharge your batteries (even for a night – if you are going for the first time spending two nights would be ideal) you know where to go. More » « Hide
