The trip from Bangalore to Madikeri takes about 6 hours by bus and a distance of 280 kms. We went in the month of February and it was quite hot. The nights did get cool though. Mayura Valley View is a definite value of money and also very close to the madikeri bus stand, it\'s about 2 km. A double deluxe room at 1500 rs per night was well worth it. The room was clean and very spacious best of all was the view from the room and also the bathroom, you can enjoy the view the valley as you take a shower, that was quite enjoyable for me. The restaurant is tiny and the kitchen very small but we found the food there quite good and definitely better than outside the hotel. They have only 28 rooms so advance booking would be advisable. You can rent bikes at the hotel and visit places nearby which i prefer to travelling by bus. Notable places nearby would be Raja\'s seat at 1 km, Abby falls at 9kms , Omkareshwara temple at 2 km, Talacauvery at 48kms, Golden temple at the tibetan settlement at 40kms, Dubare forest reserve at 20 kms, Nisargadhama at 22 kms. All in all I would say its a perfect weekend getaway.
