The homestay is located amid coffee plantation and overlooking a vast stretch of lush green paddy fields.The hosts were were co-operative and friendly and the room were spacious & clean. I stayed for 3 days and each day they served us different variety of delicious coorgi food. Overall the experience was very satisfactory and enjoyable. More » « Hide

I planned for a budget weekend getaway and found only Woodlands was a budget hotel in Wynad. So... .. I planned for a budget weekend getaway and found only Woodlands was a budget hotel in Wynad. So my expectations was low but it proved me wrong. Its a very well maintained hotel. Clean and hygienic rooms. Staff is very co-operative and helpful. We landed in Wynad on a day when there was a strike on in the town of wynad and we could see the crowds walking with slogans and asking shops to close. I then though we are going to have a awful time and may land up spending the next day at room as the bundh will be on till 6PM. To my surprise as we checked-in the front office promptly informed us of the next day's bundh and enquired of our plans. We wanted to have the morning safari at Tholpetty wildlife Sanctuaries followed by visit to nearby waterfalls and shopping in the evening. The hotel guy promised for the arrangement but asked us to be ready to leave early at 5:45 AM before the bundh starts. A jeep was arranged and planned to cover all out mentioned places and dropped us back at 7PM. It was amazing how the hotel staff made all the arrangements where-in our trip was not affected due to the bundh . We had booked a rooms at Paradise Isle Beach resort for our Christmas vacation through a resort... .. We had booked a rooms at Paradise Isle Beach resort for our Christmas vacation through a resort executive from Bangalore office. My daughter had vacation at school and I wanted to utilize it well by spending time with her. So we didn't care for the cost (30% increase in room price during Christmas) and went ahead and booked dreaming to have a memorable vacation. However it was not worth the cost you pay.The only good point is its location, but you can enjoy the benefit ONLY if you take Deluxe Sea View rooms. I drove down from Bangalore and after a drive on the horrifying roads on Shiradi Ghat, we stopped at Mangalore. Next day after breakfast we started to Malpe and reached the resort at 12:30PM. The check-in time was confirmed to be 12 noon but we were made to wait for almost half an hour before we got our room. We booked a Premium Sea View room as the resort executive promised us a good sea view. We were disappointed to see the rooms facing the parking and the sea was hardly seen. The noise at the parking area also woke us up at untimely hours making it a nightmare. Don't be carried away with the photos on their website like me. I assumed it to have a private beach. However I was still under this impression even after I reached there and had lunch in the sea facing restaurant. However after 3:30PM, I saw loads of bus carrying school children and locals from Udupi flocking the place. The sea view was nothing less than Chennai Marina beach at evenings.
