I am writing this review with a very heavy heart. I visited Kodaikanal from 19th to 21st May\'12,..... I am writing this review with a very heavy heart. I visited Kodaikanal from 19th to 21st May\'12, I have never seen any hill station in such a bad and dirty condition as Kodaikanal. During my visit Kodaikanal was celebrating Kodai festival and there was heavy rush. People came to the hill station in mini busses and Tempo Travellers, these vehicles were parked by people in the way they wanted. There was no traffic and parking management by police. This was not the end, in the forest and hills people ate the food brought by them and threw used plastic and thermocol plates and glasses anywhere and everywhere. People threw leftover food in the forest and hills. Normally locals care for the environment and scenic beauty in hill stations but here the case was opposite. Outsiders like us were carrying bags to collect the waste and used water bottles and locals were throwing the leftover food, water bottles, plastic & paper plates & cups on the roads, hills etc. More » « Hide

I visited Cherrapunjee, Shillong, Mawlynnong, Mawsynram & Jaintia recently with my family. I..... I visited Cherrapunjee, Shillong, Mawlynnong, Mawsynram & Jaintia recently with my family. I planned the visit looking at different web sites including HIQ. From HIQ I got the phone number of a taxi driver called Pradeep Modak. He is a person who would impress you with his good talks but I found him useless. When I talked to him on phone he told me not to book an accommodation but I made my own alternative arrangement. He took me to the places which are not at all good places and one cannot live there. I booked two places for stay, one Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort at Cherrapunjee and other one Hill Top Chateau in Shillong. Pradeep Modak criticized both the places but I found both of these very good and comfortable. I finalized a lump sum amount for my 8 days trip which included 2 days Cherrapunjee visit and he agreed for a WagonR car. But to my surprise he gave WagonR only for pick up from Guwahati airport and he came every day with a Maruti 800 car for all the trips. Unfortunately during my visit there was shillong bandh, so I had to change my program and went to Cherrapunjee first. When we came back from Cherrapunjee, Pradeep Modak tried to create a fear in our mind (of Bandh & rally) and tried his level best that we leave Meghalaya as early as possible. He wanted almost full amount for about half the trip which we agreed with him. Once we said that we will be staying back and will complete the trip as per our plan then he lost the interest and stopped talking and coming to us. Every day he sent different vehicle (Maruti 800) which did not take us to all the destinations as agreed with Pradeep Modak. In short I would like to say that this person is a fraud and one should not fall victim of him. He spoiled our trip by giving wrong information & creating fear. More » « Hide
