The Oriental Hotel in Gangtok is well located at M G Marg (Mall Rd) Well designed, clean & well maintained. Good food & reasonably priced restaurant Good service especially by Mr Dawa(the all rounder service boy) However it has: No view of the mountains. Running hot water is only for for 3 hrs in the morining & 3 hrs in the evening (running cold water is available full day) The Hotel has Compact rooms & bathrooms It Could improve on flexibility & friendliness Would recommend for a stay. Other rooms also decently maintained. Good view of Kanchenzonga from most of the rooms. Decent food at moderate prices, good amenities & friendly service. Would definitely recommend tis hotel. The Front office & restuarant staff is very courteous & customer oriented. Resort has easy... .. The Front office & restuarant staff is very courteous & customer oriented. Resort has easy access to the Betalbatim beach (2 mins walk thru coconut field in front of the resort) . It is approx 20 mins from Margao station & 30 mins from airport. Restuarant has a limited vegetarian Menu (but chef always willing to customise). Non veg variety seems to be good on the menu. No food option available within reasonable walking distance. If you want do sightseeing, this is not the best place. If you want to relax within the resort its good. More » « Hide

Poovar is excellent location. The resort is uniquely located. Take an auto rickshaw from... .. Poovar is excellent location. The resort is uniquely located. Take an auto rickshaw from Trivandrum (35 km, 1 hr drive, Rs 350). After you reach the boat jetty it is a 15 minute motor boat ride (free) to the resort through the backwaters. Floating cottages had been removed due to a government order. The resort informed us 1 day in advance. However the land cottages are also excellent. There is a beach on the opposite side (approachable by boat). The backwaters are silent & serene. There are interesting places like palace museum & art gallery (adjacent) to see in Trivandrum. There is also a famous temple where men have to wear dhoti (on hire for nominal charge & tied quickly by the temple volunteer). Women can wear dhoti/skirt/saree. Kanyakumari 100 kms/3hours/Rs 2500 has some interesting places to see. More » « Hide
