Since I never went to Shimla before, I booked this hotel online and I realized how bad the online booking experience can be. Its closer to the Shimla railway station (thought it took us Rs. 120 on 6th October 2011 by taxi from the railway station) and its at the very beginning point of the mall road (the heart of the mall is a good 1 KM away through a steep road). The moment we dropped in, the first thing they asked is whether we need taxi for the sight seeing (didn't bother to ask how we are, forget about the welcome drink we were supposed to get). I was afternoon, still quite cold for us and there was no warm water in the bathroom. The room was stinking, the wall was damp and the woodwork inside the room was full of dust. The 'restaurant' was just vacant with virtually no choice of food. We had to walk down to the mall road through a very steep lane behind this hotel to get something to eat. Whatever additional services we asked for (e.g. extra blanket and a pillow for my 5 year old son) were never attended in the first 2 days, until I screamed standing at their front desk. We went for the sight-seeing (could not dare to use their service) and got ourselves snapped in the 'green valley' wearing the traditional dresses and the photographer delivered the pics at the hotel front desk, but they 'forgot' to inform us. When we checked (during our check-out) they said they have not received any stuff from anybody. We went ahead to Manali and called up the photographer there and he conformed he had handed over the photograph to the hotel front desk 2 on that same day when we got snapped. Again I had to talk to the front desk and they said they will courier the same to my residence address. When I asked again after 1 day if they have sent the courier, they said they have given it to a driver who is coming to Manali and the driver will hand this over to us and thus the photographs have been lost forever. This is really the worst service you can expect. I am uploading a few pics of the room for you to decide if you will ever check into this hotel in future.
