If you are in south Goa, do visit the small and interesting port town of Karwar situated between the Arabian sea and a range of hills (known as Binaga Ghaati) is Karwar. It is a compact town, with just four streets running parallel to one another, and stretching from the Kali River bridge or Kodibaug on one side and the port on the other. Karwar has a relatively clean beach with Casurina trees lining it on a long stretch. One can just walk through the town and enjoy spending at least two days in Karwar. More » « Hide

Hotel Navarathna is located on the Main Street, within walking distance of almost everything in Karwar, a pretty port town on the Indian West coast. The hotel provides only "lodging" facility (and no "boarding"), with AC and non-AC rooms. ACs work well. Shower-heads need replacement but Indians do not mind bucket-baths. "Running hot water" does not mean that the Hotel-boy will come running in the morning with a bucket of hot water for you! Rooms and bathrooms are kept clean. The hotel has no restaurant but serves tea and coffee from a vending machine, in steel glasses so tiny that they seem to be taken out from children's toys. There are several restaurants very close to the Hotel. The best ones are Udupi Sri Krishna near the Hindu High School for South Indian breakfast (Idli, Masala Dosa, Set Dosa, Upama, etc. and coffee) and Paarvati Restaurant on the Green Road, for reasonably priced sea-food made in the Karwari / Goan style. The Karwar beach is 10 minutes walk from the hotel. More » « Hide
