The last time we visited there, we stayed at Neeta International (having arrived there in their bus from Mumbai!). It was located very conveniently close to the temple complex. But having read negative comments about it everywhere thought of staying in Sai Leela this year. The phone number given at their site works and is responded to efficiently! I called the hotel one day before and was told that I would get a room immediately on arrival. We arrived their at around 10:00 AM and were immediately given a room. The service is fast but not very efficient. We had breakfast in room which was nice, but the tea was not. However the tray was not taken back from the room even after calling. The hotel has a very nice campus with gardens and swimming pool. Though we did not use them they do give a very nice feeling. The room itself was nice and spacious with a balcony. The bathroom is also spacious and has separate cold and hot water but the fittings are a bit old. The AC was very old (non-remote wala!). Even the wooden fixtures were old and the furniture can be better. They have a shuttle service to the temple (Tata Ace magic) which is good as the hotel in a little distant from the temple and the road is not very good. You can in fact call the service once the darshan is over and they will come to pick you up! The food is vegetarian and strictly average and the cutlery could definitely be better. We had to take a cab to Manmad early in the morning and the staff coordinated the cab for us efficiently. In fact the cab was a bit late and the front desk guy was helpful that early in the morning and called the cab person and made sure he reached in time. Overall we had a nice stay at the Sai Leela. But for Rs 2250 (AC room for 1 day for 2 people) I feel its a bit costly. More » « Hide

Earlier trips were made to the much crowded and not much appreciated crowded beach in front of Puri Hotel. Our search for a secluded beach led us to Hotel Holiday Resort (More of a hotel than a resort!). Our main criteria was to have a somewhat secluded beach at a reasonable cost. I did online booking and had to transfer money online to their account. Though it was not much of a fuss, still credit card booking would have been better appreciated. I had booked 3 double rooms (and on phone told them my preference for first floor rooms), but on reaching there we were first given two 4 bedded rooms on second floor and had to wait for almost an hour for the third room which was a double bed room on first floor. Here, I must compare these rooms as the 4-bedded rooms were cramped, with very old furniture. The bathroom was ok for the price of the rooms. The 2-bedded room was a complete contrast! Having sat in the 4-bedded room for an hour we were pleasantly surprised by the room as it was the same size as the 4-bed rooms, but much more spacious and was bright and cheerful. Since we had to stay for only one night and it was the holi weekend we did not bother much about the rooms, but it would have been great of the management to provide the double rooms to us since it was booked since one month. We did not call anything at room but went to their restaurant, The Gajapati, which has a very good ambiance (better than Aquarium, Mayfair) with lots of swords and has a charmingly antique flavour to it. The food does not match up to the ambience, but is nothing to complain about. The best thing about the hotel is that you do not have to cross a road to get to the beach. They have a path up to the beach which goes through a decently maintained garden. The beach is nice and clean and we had a frolicking time there. We returned to our room in the evening and wanting to have a nice warm shower I realized they do not have running hot water! Its available from 7 to 11 in the morning! Strange for a hotel on the beach! The room service person told he would get hot water in the bucket...thanks..but no thanks! More » « Hide

They are the foremost reason why Bandhavgarh has earned a spot for itself in the tourist map and they have become an important source of livelihood for the people living there. This year we decided to go to a national park, and kanha is the nearest place to go from raipur. But then two things changed our destination...The tigers and the tree house hideaway! Bandhavgarh, because of its smaller area and abundance of deers and sambar is the ideal place to see tigers in their natural habitat (We got to see 4!). The forest is deciduous and grasslands sparse which make tiger sighting easy. But do not go there for the tigers alone...the rest of the flora and fauna is equally interesting (at least after you have seen the tiger!). The weather in march was very interesting. Morning when we reached there it was quite cold and we needed our jackets. By afternoon we needed to switch on the AC inside the room. And one day we had thunderstorms which gave us a feeling of the monsoons too! More » « Hide

We not only had many such stories but were also amazed by the hotel (or rather hideaway!). This place is in the buffer zone of the forest and has just 5 tree houses. Each house is built almost totally out of wood but still attempts to give you all the comforts of a regular house. Each house is surrounded by trees and that gives you a feel of being one with nature. Since bandhavgarh has a large range of temperature fluctuations, each room is provided with AC and heater. In march, it was quite cold in the morning but by afternoon we needed to switch the AC on. Bathrooms are well equipped and both hot and cold water is available. In fact the rooms are made in such a way that whatever you do you can have a view of the jungle, whether you are lying in the bed, brushing your teeth or even bathing! They have a central eating place, which provides a very satisfying eating experience. We had taken a 2 night 3 days package in which 2 safaris were included and we just had to reach at the specified place at the specified time (they did all the bookings and also provide a few essentials like biscuits, juices, water for the safari). We also went for the Bandhavgarh fort on the 3rd day. For leisure you can just lounge in the large balcony overlooking the forest or can also go for bicycling to the nearby village. Ultimately, its an experience to be LIVED again and again! More » « Hide
