We planned the Wayanad trip for the summer vacation ( April 20-23 \'12) at the last minute having managed to book train tickets only to Mysore ( 1 month before trip). Having seen Bangalore, Mysore and Coorg already, we decided to enter Kerala and check out Wayanad. We booked Wayanad Blooms homestay after doing a lot of research online. I am glad to say my research did pay off. My wife finally did acknowledge after we returned from our tirp that I planned atleast ONE trip properly in my life time and made it memorable.
We did not have high expectations of Wayanad as most of the comments we received was that it will be hot this time of the year and nothing much to see and do in wayanad. We did not have much choice to do any last minute changes and we kept our plans intact. Boy are we glad that we did not change our plans. It was a very beautiful and pleasant place to visit and lots of things to see and do. And staying in Wayanad Blooms made it all the more enjoyable.
We took a private van ( Innova) from Mysore and drove to Wayand. The drive through Bandhipur National forest was very nice and enjoyable. As we entered Blooms homestay, we were greeted by the front desk person who showed our cottage. We booked the cottage with 2 bedrooms as we were a party of 7 people ( 2 families). The receptionist was very courteous and gave us very good directions to find the resort.
The cottage was surrounded by greenary that was soothing to the eye. The weather was very pleasant as it was cloudy and overcast. We reached around 1.00 pm in the afternoon and so we ordered lunch at the resort. Thought we made a mistake until we tasted the food. It was a very tasty and homely food and we could not wait for dinner. You should defenitely eat in the resort and go our for sight seeing.
The amenities are very good. Large spacious rooms with a sit out to enjoy freash air and chirping of birds. A lovely way to start your morning and evening. As we walked around the resort, the greenary was so soothing to the eye and refreshing to the soul. There is a shuttle badminton court adjacent to a single cottage which is very cozy and provides a very relaxing entertainment.
Overall, our experience at Wayanad Blooms was very wonderful, with the food being the icing on the cake. We will defenitely stay here again in our next trip to Wayanad.
