IRCTC Northern Railway Zone

One of the oldest of railway zones, the Northern Railway zone, which has a route of 6807 km, connects Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Delhi. The headquarters of the zone is in Delhi, where the worlds largest Route Relay Interlocking is operated. The zone being so very broad is further divided into five categories namely Delhi, Ambala, Lucknow, Ferozpur and Moradabad.

Check train schedules

Any sudden changes like delay on arrival or change of date is recorded and notified. Go to indianrail.gov.in/train_Schedule.html, enter your railway number or name and click on the tab saying 'Get Schedule'. Route Number, arrival time, departure time, halt time, distance (in km) and number of days will be detailed in the table.

Check seat availability

Go to indianrail.gov.in/seat_Avail.html, enter either train number, journey date, source station code, destination station code, class of seating or quota type in the corresponding boxes and click on the tab 'Get Availability' to check if a seat of choice is available.
