IRCTC Western Railway Zone

Western Zone of the Indian Railways is headquartered at Churchgate in Mumbai and has six subdivisions: Mumbai, Bhavnagar, Ratlam, Vadodara, Rajkot and Ahmedabad, to help in smooth operation of the zone. This zone covers a wide range of areas, which include Gujarat, eastern Rajasthan, Maharashtra coast, part of Western Madhya Pradesh and various ports on the country's western region. The important ports that bring in most of the revenue are Okha, Kandla, Bhavnagar, Porbandar and Mumbai.  The Ahmedabad – Vadodara, Palanpur – Ahmedabad and Ratlam - Mumbai Central routes are the most popular railway routes of the Western zone.

Currently this zone serves as a transport vehicle for over 1 million people per year proving itself as one of the busiest railway zones of the country. Another point to be noted is that this zone has one the most advanced railroad systems in India.

Check train schedules

Any sudden changes like delay on arrival or change of date is recorded and notified. Go to indianrail.gov.in/train_Schedule.html, enter your railway number or name and click on the tab saying 'Get Schedule'. Route Number, arrival time, departure time, halt time, distance (in km) and number of days will be detailed in the table.

Check seat availability

Go to indianrail.gov.in/seat_Avail.html, enter either train number, journey date, source station code, destination station code, class of seating or quota type in the corresponding boxes and click on the tab 'Get Availability' to check if a seat of choice is available.
