550 ticket was good enough but still the food was less. I expected that in the train dinner would be given but that was just waste. Only food worth not more than 50 Rs was given though a bottle and newspaper were also their but the staff was rude as compared to other Shatabdi's. But it was a nice experience.
The journey was exciting and all were very much concentrated to Shimla. The train reached Kalka at the right time. From there toy train to Shimla for the first time was worth, each and every penny to watch such amazing and unbelievable sites at no cost in comparison. Suggesting each and every pilgrim to visit and watch the lap of heaven.
Few days back, I visited Shimla via Shatabdi Express. It was a great journey; I got down at Kalka Station and from there took a TOY TRAIN to Shimla. This was my best travel experience ever and I never missed an opportunity to opt for toy trains to Shimla because it passes through tunnels, beautiful waterfalls and you will feel the nature very closely. After reaching Shimla I went to the hotel and there are wide range of hotels that you can choose from 1 star to 5 star.
In the month of April, sudden holiday was planned since it was an official trip for my husband and a holiday trip for us to Solan and Shimla.
We started train journey from New Delhi to Kalka by Shatabdi. As we had to board the train in the morning, we had to cut short our morning sleep so as to reach the railway station on time. We reached New Delhi Railway Station at around 6.30 am. Kalka Shatabdi was ready for boarding.
We boarded the train and placed our luggage on the racks and settled down. I noticed two cops entering our compartment and they started identifying about the luggage with passengers and went about marking on the entire luggage. I understood that they performed this exercise in order to verify if there was any unidentified luggage in the train. After a while, another cop entered the compartment with a dog and went through the compartment. I did appreciate the kind of precaution undertaken by the railway. The train started moving at 07:40 hours.
Soon after the journey started, the attendants went around supplying morning dailies, water bottle. Then another attendant distributed biscuits and hot coffee/tea were served. After few minutes, breakfast was served. Breakfast consisted of veg-cutlet, bread-sandwiches for vegetarians and bread-omelet for non-vegetarians. Veg-cutlet was yummy. After sometime rusk sticks with coffee/tea were served. By then, we were already feeling full. Within a few minutes, we saw him issuing flavored milk sachets. Then, again he came back this time with ice-cream cups. We really felt we could not eat anymore. The attendants were neatly dressed and were very courteous while attending to the passengers. They were well spoken and well behaved. We commend the highly professional way they went about their task.
The toilets were clean and we could see it was cleaned at least twice during our Journey. Enroute the journey we could see vast land filled with wheat and mustard crop. It was total greenery with fresh air.
I traveled in Shatabdi in south and other places. But this New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi service was incomparable.
I went there by train from Delhi but there is no direct train that goes directly to Shimla. So I have to take another train from Kalka and you can also visit Kalka hill station and enjoy the places there. Then I took another train that goes to Shimla. I had a good experience in the train as they are giving meals and some snacks which were included in train fare and when I had arrived Shimla it was just amazing. I had visited many places there and there I saw snowfall as I travelled in winters and there were many malls also to visit. If you want to go there my suggestion is you must go there once and with family so that you can enjoy every place there.
