Boarded Puducherry express from Yeshwantpur and reached Pondicherry by 8 in the morning. Journey was as usual. Travelled in sleeper class. While returning, booked in Chalukya Express, it was waiting list 12 and 13 but on chart preparation it got conformed. De-boarded at K R Puram in the morning at 5'O clock. Overall it was a nice journey especially if you take a train.

We started the journey at night at around 9 pm and reached the destination by next day morning at around 6. Over all a good experience, five seats were booked and we paid 350 Rs. Stations were neat and good. Itís a recommendable train journey and the train was neat and clean and well-maintained.

Easily the best way to travel from Bangalore to Chennai. It takes 4.5 hours and doesn't cost much at all as opposed to flying. I would not be too enamored by the food on offer. I've had a couple of bad experiences eating train food and would generally avoid. Packed food should be just fine. If you can't get a reservation on this train, try the double decker, it gives you about the same experience. Save money and spend it on your actual holiday. Cheers.

I have been planning to visit Pondicherry for a long time and I could make it this December. Pondicherry is well connected with Bangalore by buses and train. One can also drive down since the roads are fairly good. I had planned for a weekend holiday and decided to take the train. The Garib Rath Express (A/c train) leaves Bangalore at 9 pm from Yeshwantpur and reaches Pondycherry by 7.50 am. The train is for all those people who love to travel economically.
