The distance by train is more than road but train journey is cheaper. Being a fast passenger offers only Non-AC reserved accommodation and is comfortable overnighter leaving Bangalore at 20:30 hrs and reaching at 5:30 hrs in the morning. Provides a convenient way to sleep and get fresh for making the darshan next day morning. As its a Fast Passenger category train, the fare works out to be just about Rs.175/- per head for the comfort provided for the section. On weekends the train tends to be more crowded but TTE and RPF ensure that only genuine reserved passengers are present in the reserved sleeper coaches .

Train journeys are good as well as not so good. First one was Tirupati, nearest places what a great trip with excellent food as well.

After a few more days of eating street food in Tirupati we went to Kalahasti where once again I ordered the food. An hour later when I was served with a cold congealed dinner I stupidly ate the meal and came down with Kalahasti Belly for three days, own fault really.

A while later we went on another train journey, from Tirupati to Hyderabad overnight, sleeping compartment there was three bunks either side. This was great until a family of Indian we were sharing with announced that they "needed" the lower bunks, even though we had the tickets to prove we had booked them.

Never mind, we were good and graciously gave up the bunks. The one of them started to snore, loudly. So loud in fact that a few people throughout the carriage commented upon this fact so, unfortunately, when we next went over a crossing and the train rattled, I was unfortunately so jostled that my foot flew out of the bed and landed on the poor snorer - stopped the snoring I can tell you. Not really proud of that, but it seemed to stop the snoring.

Trains in India are great from a tourist point of view, you really meet the real India, the food and service are generally excellent, the liveliness of the train stations is part of the reason for.

It was a memorable journey to Tirupati. I and my parents enjoyed a lot while travelling to Tirupati. It was nice to see the outer side sitting by the window of the train. While travelling we enjoyed seeing the mountains nearby and the mango gardens, coconut gardens and a lot. We travelled in 3AC and it's nice.

I felt Seshadhri Express is the best train to go to Tirupati as it has convenient timings to board and get down. Of course, the journey was fantastic as climate of Karnataka will make you feel relaxed till we cross the border.

My friend and I travelled in general compartment and the journey was exciting as we were going to visit Lord Balaji and this is the first time my friend was visiting and it happened because of me. We were good co-passengers in the train who gave us company which made our journey a more memorable one.
