The beauty of Vizag's beaches is the rocky cliff formations, and the forested Eastern Ghats in the background, while in front stretches the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal. Ramakrishna Beach, Rishikonda Beach and Lawson's Bay are some of the beautifulspots.

From Vizag you can also explore some interesting temples on the northern coastal stretch.The Lion's Hill temple or Simhachalam is 16 km north of Vizag. This temple dedicated to Varaha is on the top of the forested Ratnagiri Hill. A drive further down this spectacular coastal road takes you to the former Dutch settlement of Bheemunipatnam. There are old Dutch houses and the ruins of a fort here. The Dutch cemetery has some very interesting tombstones. The Borra Caves 100 km north of Vizag have some spectacular stalagmites and stalactites. Many of these were worshipped as shiva lingams and have Nandi bulls placed in front of them.
