Arunachal Pradesh Tribal Life - Zero Apatani Tribe

Send this page to a friend

Neha Sapru wanted to see the legendary Land of the Dawn or Arunachal Pradesh which is the eastern-most state in India. She also wanted to experience the colourful tribal life of the Arunachalis. She decided to avoid the capital city of Itanagar, which is mainly made up of government offices, and head to the picturesque town of Ziro instead.

Tribal Life
Arunachal Pradesh
Ziro is one of the prettiest hill-stations of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the home of the Apatani tribe and is surrounded by pine and bamboo forests, interspersed by terraced paddy fields. The River Kele flows through the valley. Visit the Tarin Fish Farm run by the local people whose main livelihood is agriculture and fishing. Shop for handicrafts and colourful shawls and textiles woven by the tribals.

Trek through the surrounding bamboo groves to reach the most gigantic blue pine tree in the region, measuring 7m girth. For spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayas, you can visit the high mountain ridge known as Kile Pakho, 7km away from Ziro.
