The gateway to the Northeast and the most important state in the region, Assam offers many tourism experiences. The capital city of Guwahati is the commercial and tourism hub of Assam, and an important centre of Shakti Worship, with millions of pilgrims visiting the famous KamakhyaTemple. The other spotlight of Assam tourism is the Kaziranga Natonal Park home to the rare one-horned rhino and a listed World Heritage Site. Its smaller cousin, ManasNational Park is where you can see the golden langur and other exotic animals. Guwahati is a major tea-growing centre, and a visit to a tea plantation is an interesting tourism experience.
Wildlife
The Tanejas of Delhi had heard that Kaziranga was a unique wildlife experience. They had had enough of Corbett and Ranthambhore, and so decided to make the journey eastwards. They booked a cheap flight to Guwahati and then went on by private taxi to Kaziranga.
