Major V.N. Nair had visited almost all the national parks of Madhya Pradesh, such as Ranthambore, Kanha and Panna National Parks. Now he decided to take his family to the unexplored national parks of Chhattisgarh which are relatively unexplored by tourists.
This is the best known tiger sanctuary of Chhattisgarh and is 22 km north of Jagdalpur. It gets its name from the IndravatiRiver, which flows through it. The hilly terrain adds to the beauty of the forest (sal, teak, tnedu, haldu, and bamboo) which is replete with birds and animals. You can see the endangered wild buffalo, barasinghas, tigers, leopards, gaurs (Indian Bison), nilgai, sambar, chausingha, wild dog, hyena, monkeys and others mammals here.
Best time to Visit - from mid-December to mid-June.
