chandigarh is like this ideal place. clean, green, wide roads, ruly traffic. you fee like you've been transported into another country. its worth a visit, even if for no reason at all. just for the place itself. chandigarh is a very popular stop point en route the hill stations of the north. very deservingly.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
there aren't typically any site-seeing type site, the city itself is the sight. rose garden, for all its worth, is at the end of the day just a well built park. sukhna lake is completely dispensable. what is not dispensable is the rock garden. not just a constructive display of waste material, its an incredible work of art. worth going to chandigarh just to see this. And yes, dont miss to check out the interiors of the Taj. Activities & things to do
not very many activities, boating at the sukhna lake perhaps. though one can find avenues for everything from sports to theatre, they're not quite for the tourist. if you have time at hand, take a city tour in the CITCO tourist bus. a big time activity could be shopping, considering an entire sector (sector 17-heart of the city) is dedicated to it. dont forget to eat softy there. well connected from delhi by rail, road and air. if time is the priority, air travel, if budget, jan shatabdi express or bus. taxis are not prevelant in the city, autos are rare too. rickshaws are popular. local buses for distances unmanageable by rickshaw | |
